A Message from our Principal, Mrs. Kamilah Abdul-Alim
Hello Spreckels Community!
I am the proud principal at Spreckels Elementary.
My more than 25 years of experience as an educator, both inside and outside of the classroom has taught me the importance of being authentic, patient and empathetic. As a classroom teacher, I have had the opportunity to teach in many diverse and unique environments. As an administrator I have worked as an Associate Principal, Director of Instructional Leadership and Development and an elementary school Dean. I have found the greatest joy working directly with students, families and teachers. I strive to empower students and adults, hear all voices and see the gifts that all students bring.
I grew up in Oxnard, California. I hold a Bachelors of Arts degree from UCSB (Go Gauchos!) in Political Science and African American Studies, a Masters in Teaching and Curriculum and a Masters in Educational Leadership.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, three adult sons and pups. Additionally, I love reading, traveling, exercising, going to the beach, binge watching K-dramas, and taking Korean classes and practicing Korean and Spanish.
I look forward to our partnership.
